What show recently impressed you?
I'm from Los Angeles, so the last play I saw before coming to NYC to rehearse Hardbody was Lynn Nottage's By the Way, Meet Vera Stark at the Geffen Playhouse. I'm a huge fan of Ms. Nottage — was blown away by her Ruined — and I loved her latest play about Hollywood actress Vera Stark. She brings such a singular voice and perspective to her work. I can't wait to see what she does next.
What production are you most excited to see?
I'll Eat You Last — Bette Midler in a one-woman show. Cannot wait.
What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play?
I played Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret for Reprise in Los Angeles last year. It was a really wonderful production, directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge. If they scooped that up and brought it to town, that would be dandy with me!!!!
What are your current/upcoming projects?
I just opened in Hands on a Hardbody and couldn't be happier! It's got an amazing score by Amanda Green and Trey Anastassio (of Phish fame), and a wonderful book by Pulitzer Prize winner Doug Wright. I play opposite Keith Carradine, which is pure joy. It's the story of a real contest in Longview, Texas, where folks compete to win a Nissan Hardbody truck. This is a true American tale — touching, funny and with a score that rocks the joint! I'm thrilled to be a part of it!
