The Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS spring fundraising competition has come to a close, and audiences this year were very generous. Over the past six weeks of donations via Broadway Cares' Red Buckets and onstage auctions, theatregoers have donated a record-breaking $6,849,510. In total, 57 Broadway, Off-Broadway, and national touring productions participated in the fundraiser.
This is the highest in the organization’s 37-year history, eclipsing the previous record of $6,594,778 set in 2019.
The shows that got the most donations were Broadway’s Sunset Blvd. and Good Night, and Good Luck, each raising more than $300,000.

“I was bowled over by the impassioned and often deeply personal appeals from the stage,” Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Executive Director Danny Whitman said in a statement. “This heartfelt and inspiring energy prompted extraordinary generosity from audiences to help at a time when so many are facing their darkest days. As many of the organizations we support face unimaginable challenges caused by uncertain funding, it’s reassuring to know that Broadway Cares supporters once again stand strong in providing compassionate hope and help for millions across the country.”
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation’s leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations.
