COSTA MESA, CA -- Jon Klein's got 'em buzzing.
Klein, whose latest play, Dimly Perceived Threats to the System, has its West Coast premiere at South Coast Rep Sept. 22, was touted in a recent L.A. Times "New Faces" feature.
"Klein's plays have been produced Off-Broadway and at regionals, but this one -- a comedy written in highly differentiated scenes -- is gathering a buzz that promises a breakout for him," said the Times.
SCR has a solid track record for picking new plays. Two of last year's offerings, Freedomland by Amy Freed and Three Days of Rain by Richard Greenberg, went on to snag Pulitzer nominations.
Klein's new play deals with "the widening cracks below the surface of a normal 90s family," said a company spokesperson. Mark Rucker directs a cast that includes Tony Carreiro, Heather Dawn, Heather Ehlers, Colette Kilroy and Bill Mondy.
System runs through Oct. 25 at South Coast Repertory, 655 Town Center Drive. Tickets are $28-$43. Call (714) 708-5555 for more information.
