Roundabout Theatre Company celebrates the Off-Broadway opening of Joshua Harmon's play Skintight June 21. The new play, which stars Tony winner Idina Menzel (Wicked, If/Then) in her first non-musical role in New York, is directed by Daniel Aukin.
Completing the cast of Skintight—a new drama about youth, beauty, sex, and family—are Will Brittain, Stephen Carrasco, Eli Gelb, Cynthia Mace, and Jack Wetherall.
Menzel stars as Jodi Isaac, a divorced woman who discovers that her famous father is in a relationship with a much younger, gay adult film actor. Menzel has been been a part of the development of the play—which was commissioned by Roundabout—since its first reading in early 2015.
Performances of Skintight began May 31 in the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The limited engagement is scheduled to play through August 26.
The creative team for the world premiere is made up of Lauren Helpern (scenic design), Jess Goldstein (costume design), Pat Collins (lighting design), and Eric Shimelonis (original music and sound design).
