CHICAGO--English composer Henry Marsh, whose work is familiar on British television and radio, provides the wacky score for Shakespeare Repertory's The Comedy of Errors, which opens April 19 at the Ruth Page Theater in Chicago's Gold Coast. Chicago favorite David H. Bell directs Shakespeare's early comedy. The well-named farce depicts the chaos that follows two pairs of twins who cross paths--but never closely enough to settle matters.
Bell, associate artistic director at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre and former artistic director of Ford's Theatre, is known for his staging of Hot Mikado, his Berlin version of Lloyd-Webber's Die Schone und das Biest, and the European tour of Dirty Dancing which he directed and choreographed.
