On April 5 CW’s critically acclaimed series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will conclude in a musical way.
Following the 8 PM scripted episode, Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna’s series will offer a musical special entitled Yes, It's Really Us Singing: The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Concert Special!
In a statement, series co-creator and show runner McKenna said, "The songwriters of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Rachel Bloom, Jack Dolgen, and Adam Schlesinger, have written more than 150 outstanding songs in our four seasons. It is an unprecedented contribution to the American songbook. I'm so thrilled we can share those songs with the world in a spontaneous format that really showcases their humor and genius."
The special, which will film in Los Angeles in March, is described as “equal parts concert special, rock concert and musical revue.” TV watchers can expect live versions of favorite songs featuring a live band and orchestra.
The series stars Golden Globe winner Bloom as Rebecca Bunch, a young attorney who abandons her dreary career in pursuit of her ex-boyfriend in West Covina, California. The show won two Emmy Awards in its second season for Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Single Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series.
