In 1975, author Truman Capote published an excerpt of (what would become his final work) Answered Prayers in Esquire magazine. It was an expose of most intimate secrets—drug use, extramarital affairs, and even murder—of a clique of New York society women with whom he'd become intimate in previous years.
This friendship, and the falling out that occurred after the Esquire article, is the subject of the next installment of Ryan Murphy's Feud. Subtitled Capote Vs. The Swans, the series is based on the book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer and adapted for screen by Tony-nominated playwright Jon Robin Baitz.

Tony and Olivier nominee Tom Hollander stars as author Truman Capote, who, though born into poverty in the American rural south, ascended into the ranks of Manhattan’s upper crust through his literary career. Playing his flock of "swans," as Capote dubbed the mid-century socialites, are Naomi Watts as Babe Paley, Diane Lane as Slim Keith, Chloë Sevigny as C.Z. Guest, and Calista Flockhart as Lee Radziwill, along with Demi Moore as Ann Woodward, Molly Ringwald as Joanne Carson. The cast also includes Treat Williams as Bill Paley (in his final on-screen role), Joe Mantello as Jack Dunphy and Russell Tovey as John O’Shea.
The first two episodes of the eight-episode series will premiere January 31 on FX, and will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
