After an extended sold-out run at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the recent production of Fiddler on the Roof from the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene opened Off-Broadway at Stage 42 on February 21. Directed by Joel Grey, the stagingstars Steven Skybell as Tevye, Jennifer Babiak as Golde, and Emmy nominee and Broadway veteran Jackie Hoffman as Yente.
This Fiddler is performed in Yiddish—as are all of the productions from NYTF—andfeatures a translation by Shraga Friedman, first used in a performance in Israel in 1965. The production is accompanied by supertitles in English and Russian. Check out highlights from the production above.
