Second Stage Theater will present the New York premiere of Bess Wohl's play Make Believe, directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen), beginning in August. Dates, casting, and a full creative team will be announced at a later date.

Make Believe debuted at Hartford Stage in September 2018 in a production helmed by Jackson Gay. In the new play, four kids, ages 5 to 10, are playing a game of house when their parents inexplicably disappear. Thirty-two years later, their search for answers continues.

Wohl's play Continuity will have its world premiere at Manhattan Theatre Club this spring. She returns to 2ST following the Second Stage Uptown production of American Hero. Her other plays include Barcelona, Touched, In, Cats Talk Back, and Small Mouth Sounds, as well as the musical Pretty Filthy, which she co-wrote with composer/lyricist Michael Friedman and The Civilians.
