"Stephen Sondheim was inarguably one of the greatest musical minds in the history of American theatre. Some could say his unparalleled approach to storytelling through music, both innovative and stimulating, created the very foundation on which modern musicals are built today,” said Artistic Director Joseph Haj in an earlier statement. “With her extensive background and visionary mindset, Sarna Lapine is the ideal director to lead a production of this magnitude. I’m excited for audiences to experience this extraordinary summer musical full of whimsy and imagination.”

The creative team also includes choreographer Alison Solomon, music director Denise Prosek, scenic designer Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams, costume designer Valérie Thérèse Bart, lighting designer Donald Holder, sound designer Beth Lake, adapting orchestrator Fred Lassen, copyist Jason Hansen, assistant music director Kathryn Brown, resident dramaturg Carla Steen, fight director Aaron Preusse, intimacy director Alli St. John, resident casting director Jennifer Liestman, and assistant director Derek Prestly.
