Actress-writer-comedian Sarah Silverman will bring her work to the stage of New York as The Culture Project and Clear Channel Entertainment present Jesus Is Magic, Aug. 13-23. The limited engagement will play at Culture Project's 45 Bleecker venue in downtown Manhattan. Silverman, backed by the band The Silvermen, spouts off about her interfaith relationship, 9/11 and culminates the show with her own rendition of "You Are My Sunshine." The show, which played earlier this year at the Second City Studio Theatre in Hollywood, CA drew reviews likening her work to that of Lenny Bruce.
As an actress, she has had bit parts in films such as "There's Something About Mary," "The Bachelor," "The Way of the Gun" and "Evolution." She has also appeared on television in "Saturday Night Live," "Mr. Show," "Greg the Bunny" and — her voice only — "Crank Yankers."
Tickets to Jesus Is Magic can be purchased in person at the 45 Bleecker Box Office, 45 Bleecker St. (and Lafayette), or through Ticketmaster at (212) 307-4100. For more information, visit www.45bleecker.com.
