The world premiere of Sell/Buy/Date, the new play written and performed by Tony winner Sarah Jones, officially opens Off-Broadway October 18. Manhattan Theatre Club presents the solo play, which is inspired by the real-life experiences of people affected by the sex industry.
With direction by Carolyn Cantor, performances of Sell/Buy/Date began September 27 at Manhattan Theatre Club’s The Studio at Stage II – Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center – Stage II.
As she did with Bridge and Tunnel on Broadway, in Sell/Buy/Date, Jones returns to the stage with an all-new array of characters. “Brimming with Jones’ masterful, multicultural characterizations, Sell/Buy/Date presents an honest, moving and even humorous look at a complex and fascinating subject, all while preserving the full humanity of voices seldom heard in the theater,” state MTC production notes.
