A parade of Tony Award nominees including Santino Fontana, Marc Kudisch, Emily Skinner, Bryce Pinkham, John Cariani, Mary Testa, and Brandon Uranowitz, will be featured in the Off-Broadway Transport Group’s single concert performance of Man of La Mancha December 18 at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City.
A production spokesperson told Playbill that casting is still in flux, but that each of the major roles will be played by multiple actors who will each get a song or part of a song to perform.
Jack Cummings III directs a cast that also includes Jason Danieley, Julia Murney, Robert Creighton, Tally Sessions, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Andrew Samonsky, Alexandra Silber, George Abud, D.C. Anderson, Stanley Bahorek, Jessica Fontana, Sherry Boone, Michael De Souza, Tim Dolan, Stephen Mir, Doug Shapiro, Jason SweetTooth Williams, Matt Castle, Frank Galgano, and Rowan Vickers.
The 8 PM concert will include behind-the-scenes stories of the show’s development and original production, including a talkback with some of the show’s past performers, creators, and original cast members, including Hechter Ubarry, who will narrate. Based on the novel Don Quixote, the 1965 musical has music by Mitch Leigh, lyrics by Joe Darion, and a book by Dale Wasserman. It ran 2,328 performances and has been revived on Broadway four times.

As part of the Anne L. Bernstein Concert Series, the Transport Group is also planning a concert revival of the 1968 musical Promises, Promises on June 25, 2018. Both concerts will feature original orchestrations. Casting for Promises, Promises, will be announced at a later date.
Promises, Promises has a book by Neil Simon, based on the screenplay The Apartment by Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond, with music by Burt Bacharach and lyrics by Hal David. It ran 1,281 performances and was revived on Broadway in 2010. Previous presentations in the Anne L. Bernstein Concert Series, which launched in 2012, include Baby, Once Upon a Mattress, The Music Man, Peter Pan, and A Man of No Importance.
