News San Diego Musical Theatre's West Side Story Casts Its Tony, Maria, Anita and More Casting has been announced for the San Diego Musical Theatre's upcoming production of the classic musical West Side Story, which will play a Feb. 13-March 1 engagement at the Spreckels Theatre.

Directed by James Vasquez with choreography by Randy Slovacek and musical direction by Don LeMaster, the cast will be led by Jacob Caltrider (Tony), Jessica Soza (Maria), Kikau Alvaro (Bernardo), Natalie Nucci (Anita) and Jeffrey Scott Parsons (Riff) with Danielle Airey, Kevin Aquino, Max Cadillac, Hanz Enyeart, Manny Fernandes, Meagan Flint, Jay Gamboa, Devon Hadsell, Siri Hafso, Danny Hansen, Jenny Henkel, Krysty Hernandez, Andrew J. Koslow, Danielle Levas, Jacob Narcy, Joy Newbegin, Leah Roth, RC Sands, Ernest Sauceda, Taylor Simmons, Joshua LaMonte Switzer, Diana Vaden, Eric von Metzke, Andrea Williams and Dan Windham.

West Side Story has music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Arthur Laurents.

"Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the 'American' Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks," according to press notes. "Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time."

The production will also have lighting design by Amanda Zieve and costumes coordinated by Janet Pitcher. The production manager is Bret Young, and the stage manager is Stanley Cohen.
