The annual festival takes place on the campus of Inge's alma mater, the Independence Community College in Independence, KS. Braden Abraham will direct the 7:30 PM reading on May 2.
Hunter's play The Whale was recently presented to acclaim Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons. His works also include A Bright New Boise.
His latest play, according to the Inge Festival, "centers on Walter, who has spent his life counseling teenage Christian boys whose parents fear their sons have homosexual tendencies. When a confused teenager arrives at Walt's fellowship camp in the Idaho mountain wilderness, Walter has a crisis of faith."
The 32nd annual Inge Festival takes place May 1-4. It will launch with a fully staged production of Bus Stop.
