RuPaul's Drag Race star and certified musical theatre girlie Plasma will record a live album over two shows at Joe's Pub in NYC July 28. Plasma: Is Miss Thing On? will release in the fall on a date to be announced.
Plasma will be backed by the Benjamin Young Band, performing some showtune favorites alongside some new material. Featured will be a duet with Tony winner J. Harrison Ghee.
“I wanted to do this recording live for the same reasons that I love live theatre: I get one shot to do a great job in front of a live audience, and I can’t look back," says Plasma in a statement. "I’ve always been a live performer at heart, so this album is a love letter to my truest self—the unafraid, spontaneous, and irrepressible Plasma you and I both love to see.”
Is Miss Thing On? follows the Drag Race season 16 star's previous cabaret outing, All That Plazz, which toured the U.S. last year.
Tickets for the July 28 concerts are available at PublicTheater.org.
