The Roundabout Theatre Company revival of the late Samm-Art Williams' Home completes its limited run at Broadway's Todd Haimes Theatre July 21. The revival began previews May 17 and officially opened June 5 with Tony winner Kenny Leon at the helm. Read the reviews here.
The play follows Cephus Miles, a Black southern farmer who is jailed for his opposition to the Vietnam War. He then moves north, only to find even more difficulties away from his North Carolina home. The coming-of-age story was originally staged by the Negro Ensemble Company in 1979 and transferred to Broadway the following year.
The cast features Tory Kittles (The Equalizer, True Detective) as Cephus Miles, Brittany Inge (Lethal Legacy, Boomerang) as Woman One/Pattie Mae Wells, and Stori Ayers (Blood at the Root) as Woman Two. Kimber Elayne Sprawl (Girl From the North Country) and RJ Foster (Fat Ham) serve as understudies.
The production also features set design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Allen Lee Hughes, and sound design by Justin Ellington.
