International News Room on the Broom Ends West End Run September 4

The Olivia Jacobs-directed, Olivier Award-nominated adaptation plays the Lyric Theatre.

Room On The Broom

The Olivier Award-nominated adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s children's novel Room on the Broom ends its West End run September 4 at the Lyric Theatre. The show began performances July 21.

The Tall Stories production is directed by Olivia Jacobs and stars Jessica Manu in her West End debut as the Witch, Hannah Miller as Cat, Peter Steele returning to play Dog and Frog, and Jake Waring as Bird and Dragon. Jayant Singh is an understudy.

The work was created in 2008 and features puppetry and sing-a-long tunes. It follows the story of a witch and her cat traveling via broomstick, picking up colorful characters along the way. They find that the broomstick isn't strong enough to hold all of them and it breaks, leaving them victim to a hungry dragon.

The children's show previously toured the U.K., Ireland, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, and Poland. It has also been translated into German, where it tours regularly with Junges Theater Bonn.

The production features set design by Morgan Large, puppet design by Yvonne Stone, lighting design by James Whiteside, choreography by Morag Cross, and music composition by Jon Fiber and Andy Shaw.
