Kathe Mull will direct a cast that includes Reed (Wicked, August: Osage County), Joel Hatch (Adding Machine, Billy Elliot), Jeff Talbott (Frost of St. Louis Rep/Geva's Frost/Nixon), Erin Grennan (Chicago First Folio's Taming of the Shrew) and Michael Paul Smith (MCC's The Naked Hour, Irish Rep's Yeats). Jason Daunter is the stage manager. Grennan, the co-author of the regionally popular musicals Phantom of the Country Opera, Married Alive!, A Dog's Life and Another Night Before Christmas, told Playbill.com that his new play "is a dark comedy about a family — three newly grown siblings returning home for the holidays spread over 30 years. That is, the first scene is Thanksgiving 1980, the second is Christmas 1990, the third is New Year's 2000 and finally, Easter 2010. [The siblings are] just embarking on their adult lives as the play opens and are well into their 50s by the end."
Playwright Grennan said the title comes from the Woody Allen joke, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans."
The reading will be at 3 PM in the Irish Repertory Theatre's Studio Theatre at 132 W. 22nd Street. (This is not a Rep reading.)
