PlayBlog Richard Katz Takes Playbill Video Backstage at the Armory for the Royal Shakespeare Company in NYC (Video) The Royal Shakespeare Company has teamed with the Lincoln Center Festival, the Armory and Ohio State University to make its way across the world. The company has replicated the Stratford-upon-Avon Theatre at the Armory for a six-week engagement. Here, Playbill Video goes behind-the-scenes at the Armory to check out all of the backstage action.


Royal Shakespeare Company actor Richard Katz offers Playbill a backstage tour including a look at the wing space and dressing rooms of the theatre. He then offers a glimpse into the company's pre-show warm-ups and dance call. Finally, Katz takes the camera to the As You Like It after-party and celebrates the first night of performances.

As You Like It was the first of the five productions to be offered at the Armory in repertory. RSC artistic director Michael Boyd directs a cast that includes Katy Stephens as Rosalind/Ganymede, Jonjo O'Neill as Orlando, Katz as Touchstone, Mariah Gale as Celia, Geoffrey Freshwater as Corin, Forbes Masson as Jaques, Clarence Smith as Duke Ferdinand, Sandy Neilson as Duke Frederick, Charles Aitken as Oliver, James Tucker as Silvius and Christine Entwisle as Phoebe.

Romeo and Juliet began performances July 10, and King Lear began July 15. The Winter's Tale begins July 21 and the final production, Julius Caesar, is set for July 28.
