The reviews are rolling in for the Off-Broadway production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea starring Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott. The revival of John Patrick Shanley's play is running at the Lucille Lortel Theatre through January 3, 2024. See the photos in the gallery below.
The play follows Danny and Roberta, two desperate people in the Bronx that have a chance meeting in a dive bar. What follows is an encounter "so dangerous and so beautiful" that it "redefines the meaning of love." Abbott and Plaza play Danny and Roberta, respectively.

Danny and the Deep Blue Sea is produced by Sam Rockwell and Mark Berger’s Play Hooky Productions, Seaview, Sue Wagner, and John Johnson by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The play originally premiered Off-Broadway in 1984 at Circle in the Square Theatre Downtown.
