The West Coast premiere of King Liz opened at Los Angeles' The Geffen Playhouse July 21, following performances which began July 12. The show will run through August 14 at Geffen's Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater.

Starring in the cast are Sabrina Sloan (Hamilton) as Liz Rico, Evan Morris Reiser (Othello) as Freddie Luna, Ray Abruzzo (The Sopranos) as Mr. Candy, Oscar Best (Blood Knot) as Coach Jones, Nancy Linari (Marvel's Spiderman) as Barbara Flowers, and Michelle Ortiz (MADtv) as Gabby Fuentes.

In King Liz, powerful sports agent Liz Rico represents NBA superstars and has a chance to move her career to the next level if she signs Freddie Luna, a high school basketball player with once-in-a-generation talent and a troubled past. As accusations towards Freddie begin to come out, Liz is faced with a choice to save Freddie's career or her own in a male-dominated industry.

Directed by Jesca Prudencio (Interstate), the production features scenic and video design by Justin Humphres, costume design by Devario D. Simmons, lighting design by Rebecca Bonebrake, sound design by Melanie Chen Cole, production stage management by Lizzie Thompson, and casting by Phyllis Schuringa.
