Performances will begin October 3 at the Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Center, where the production will run through November 12. Opening night is set for October 23.

The cast will also include Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives), Stephanie DiMaggio (A Confederacy of Dunces), and Victor Rasuk (How to Make It in America).

This marks the first of three plays by Guirgis that Signature will present over the coming year as part of the Pulitzer Prize winner’s Residency One season. It is also the first New York City staging of the play since its debut in 2000.

Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train follows bicycle messenger Angel Cruz as he awaits a trial for the death of a cult leader. While imprisoned, he meets convicted serial killer and born-again Christian Lucius Jenkins, who influences Angel’s outlook on life and impending trial.

The production, directed by Mark Brokaw, will feature sets by Riccardo Hernandez, costumes by Dede M. Ayite, lighting design by Scott Zielinski, and sound design by M.L. Dogg. Linda Marvel is production stage manager; casting is by Caparelliotis Casting.
