Recent Chicago star Ana Villafañe has found her next gig—and it’ll be on screen instead of a stage this time around. The Broadway alum will play medical examiner Rosa in Apple TV+’s upcoming crime drama series Bad Monkey, also starring Vince Vaughn, Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Meredith Hagner.
Deadline reports the show, based on Carl Hiaasen’s novel of the same name, follows Vaughn’s down-on-his-luck detective Andrew Yancy, who stumbles upon a crime scene in southern Florida. Rosa, tired of her job, helps the sleuth as he solves the mystery of a severed arm found in a swamp. Also joining the series are Rob Delaney, Ahmed Elhaj, and Arturo Luis Soria.
The show is executive produced by Vaughn, Bill Lawrence, Matt Tardes, Jeff Ingold, and Marcos Siega, the latter directing the first episode. Liza Katzer of Lawrence’s Doozer Productions serves as co-executive producer with Warner Bros. Television as studio runner.
