Deborah Grace Winer will host Till There Was You: A Celebration of Barbara Cook June 17 at 7 and 9:30 PM at Feinstein's/54 Below.
The evening paying tribute to the late, great Broadway soprano will feature the talents of Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba; Tony nominees Christine Andreas, Rebecca Luker, and Christiane Noll; as well as Linda Purl, Aisha de Haas, Natalie Douglas, and K.T. Sullivan.
Mark Waldrop will direct the performance with musical direction by Mark Hummel.
Winer said in a statement, “Barbara was maybe the greatest theatre singer of all time—and not just because that voice was the eighth wonder of the world. She was fearless in how she got inside a lyric and reflected back at us what it feels like to be human. But that was just part of who she was. I was lucky to know Barbara most of my life and to have a wonderful friendship. Whether she was putting together a new show or cooking her giblet gravy, Barbara was savvy and irreverent and hilarious to hang out with. We’re so excited to gather this stellar all-woman cast to celebrate all different sides of Barbara, with stories and the fantastic range of songs she loved to sing.”
