News Rattlestick Will Unchain Keith Josef Adkins' Pitbulls Rattlestick Playwrights Theater will present Pitbulls, written by Keith Josef Adkins and directed by Leah Gardiner, set to begin performances Nov. 6 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place).

Pitbulls will play through Dec. 13, with an official opening of Nov. 20 at 8 PM.

Here's how the production is billed, "A small black community in rural Appalachia. Pitbull country. Mary and her son Dipper live in a trailer a few miles from their bible-belt, war-loving, dog-fighting neighbors. Despite being the community's pariah, Mary is at peace making and selling wine. However, when a prize-winning pit bull is slaughtered on the Fourth of July, Mary’s solitary existence becomes suspect. Pitbulls explores what it costs to be an individual in America."

The cast of Pitbulls will feature Yvette Ganier (The Miracle Worker), Nathan Hinton, Billy Eugene Jones (The Mountaintop), Nedra McClyde and Maurice Williams.

The design team includes set design by Andrew Boyce, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Eric Southern and sound design by Bart Fasbender.
