Off-Broadway News Prospect Theater Company Rebrands as Prospect Musicals

The Off-Broadway company has mounted full productions of nearly 40 new musicals.

Prospect Theater Company, which is celebrating 25 years of developing and producing new musical theatre works, will rebrand as Prospect Musicals.

The change will be celebrated as part of the company’s 25th Anniversary Gala September 30 at The Edison Ballroom. The evening will include cocktails, dinner, and entertainment in celebration of this year’s to-be-announced Muse Award recipients. Additional details will be announced at a later date.

“In 1999, Prospect produced its first show for one weekend only, downtown in the West Village. In the 25 years since, we’re proud to have built an expansive creative community that includes both accomplished Tony Award winners and emerging artists who just landed in NYC a few months ago,” said Producing Artistic Director Cara Reichel in a statement. “We look forward to many more years of providing a home for compelling voices bringing to life original musicals.”

“Prospect’s new name places our mission of creating musical theatre at the center of our identity,” added Managing Director Melissa Huber. “Our dedication to bold new work and building an inclusive community will remain the same, even as we unveil a new logo and fresh look for the company’s marketing.”

Prospect has mounted full productions of nearly 40 new musicals and presented hundreds of concerts, readings, and developmental labs. Among the Prospect-produced titles are Einstein’s Dreams, The Hello GirlsThe Mad Ones, Jasper in Deadland, Unlock'd, Myths and Hymns, and more.
