On Feb. 5, production spokesperson Amy Jacobs still had no official comment about who would replace Donna Murphy in Broadway's The King And I after her last day as Anna, March 19.
Jacobs did say Lou Diamond Phillips' tenure is "open-ended" and that no replacements were currently being sought for his kingly role. Rumors are strong that Faith Prince will succeed Murphy in the role of Anna Leonowens, the schoolmistress who introduces Western culture to the King of Siam.
Winner of 4 Tony Awards, The King And I plays at the Neil Simon Theatre on West 52nd St. A touring production, starring Hayley Mills and Vee Talmadge, will commence March 18 in Minneapolis.
