Producer Marc Platt on Wicked Film: "I Haven't Been in a Hurry" | Playbill

News Producer Marc Platt on Wicked Film: "I Haven't Been in a Hurry" Producer Marc Platt, a creative force behind the megahit Broadway musical Wicked and a producer on the forthcoming film adaptation of Into the Woods, is in no hurry to transfer Wicked to the big screen.

In an interview with ComingSoon.net, Platt said, "The movie of Wicked is still a number of years down the line… We've just started its development, because the show's still so strong with eight or nine companies around the world. That's coming in the future. That's why I haven't been in a hurry, because it works so well on stage and audiences are enjoying it."

He continued to say that the story is "timeless" and wants to allow it to be explored theatrically before turning it over to the big screen.

Platt is also a producer on Broadway's If/Then, which stars original, Tony-winning Wicked actress Idina Menzel.

His other Broadway credits include Pal Joey, Three Days of Rain and Total Abandon.
