When a script calls for a character to attend or perform in a play, a mock-up Playbill adds an element of realism to the scene. Playbill licenses its trademark to movie and television producers to create the prop Playbills seen on camera.
Aside from information on over 10,000 shows and 120,000 actors, the Vault now features prop Playbills seen in "Smash," "Just Shoot Me," "Isn't She Great," "Law and Order," "Welcome to New York," "Something's Gotta Give," "30 Rock," "The West Wing" and "Spider-Man 3," among others.
The selection of mock-up Playbills features original artwork, and most include autographs from the lead actors. They can be found by clicking here.
Playbill Vault, which offers an interactive treasure trove for theatre fans, students, aficionados and historians alike, was launched in December 2011. The website features decades of digitized versions of Playbills, photos, videos and more.
