Starring Tony nominee Damon Daunno (Oklahoma!), Taylor Iman Jones (Six), Peter Mark Kendall (The Rose Tattoo), Tony winner Lauren Patten (Jagged Little Pill), Helen J. Shen, and Thomas Silcott (Birthday Candles), The Lonely Few will officially open at MCC's Newman Mills Theater May 20, for a limited engagement through June 2.
Trip Cullman and Ellenore Scott co-direct the new work about a small-town Kentucky band that gets a big break, a romance that blossoms on tour, and leaving and missing home.
The Lonely Few will feature scenic design by Sibyl Wickersheimer, costume design by Samantha C. Jones, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design by Jonathan Dean and Mike Tracey, orchestrations by Sarnak and Bryan Perri, and arrangements by Sarnak. Perri also serves as the music supervisor, with Myrna Conn as music director, and Tomoko Akaboshi as music coordinator. Bess Marie Glorioso is the production stage manager and casting is by Beth Lipari, Phyllis Schuringa, and The Telsey Office.
The Lonely Few was originally commissioned and produced by Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. It is supported by the Gary Platt Initiative for New Musicals at MCC Theater and the Burton A. Zipser and Sandra D. Zipser Foundation.
