As the 2023–24 Broadway season comes to a close, numerous celebrations are on offer, honoring the work that was done in the previous industry year.
On May 1, Tony winner David Rockwell threw a Broadway Design celebration at the CIVILIAN Hotel’s Rosevale Cocktail Room, honoring theatre designers and their work throughout the 2023–24 season.
Present throughout the evening were Nikiya Mathis, set to receive a Special Tony Award this year for her Hair and Wig Design for Jaja’s African Hair Braiding; triple 2024 Tony nominee David Zinn; Cabaret scenic, theatre, and costume designer Tom Scutt; and more. See who else was nominated for a 2024 Tony here.
Even Tom Francis, set to star opposite Nicole Scherzinger in the upcoming Broadway revival of Sunset Boulevard, joined in on the festivities. Check out photos from the celebration below.
Winners will be named at the 77th Annual Tony Awards, set for June 16 at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater. The evening will kick off with The Tony Awards: Act One, streaming for free on Pluto TV. Details are to be announced.
