The York Theatre Company’s concert revival of Dear World, starring Tyne Daly, Ann Harada, Alison Fraser, and Lenny Wolpe, opened February 25.
The 1969 musical features a book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, (based on an adaptation by Maurice Valency of the play The Madwoman of Chaillot by Jean Giraudoux), and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. The show follows a deranged countess and her associates as they scheme to stop businessmen from drilling for oil under the streets of their Parisian neighborhood.
The limited run will play through March 5 at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s Off-Broadway with direction by Michael Montel and music direction by Christopher McGovern. Due to popular demand, a special added performance has been scheduled for March 5 at 7 PM.
