After entering a beauty pageant, International superstar Sophia Loren was discovered and appeared in her first film at age 15. Loren, who has since starred in musicals and comedies, earned her first Academy Award for Vittorio De Sica’s Two Women, a drama about a woman protecting he daughter in war-torn Italy. She is the first artist to win Best Actress for a foreign-language film.
Among many screen roles, Loren has starred in the film adaptations Desire Under the Elms, Man of La Mancha and Nine. Sophia was also awarded an honorary Academy Award in 1991.
The next stop on the tour will be the Detroit Opera House on September 14.
