The evening began with an early performance of Sondheim on Sondheim at Studio 54, starring Barbara Cook, Vanessa Williams and Tom Wopat. The piece is a brand new musical retrospective of Sondheim's career that is directed by long time Sondheim collaborator, James Lapine.
A seated dinner and a personal tribute took place following the performance featuring original songs by the composers of Next to Normal, The Wild Party, The Addams Family, Avenue Q, In The Heights, Caroline or Change, Spring Awakening, Shrek, Passing Strange and many more.
