“For many, many people, these books were the first things that they read and has gotten so many people into reading,” says Thornley in the video. “Hopefully, if we do it right, this will be the same with theatre. For many, this will be the first time they ever come to a theatre… We might have a theatrical audience who have been inspired and seen something truly exciting and magical.” Watch the video below:

Performances began June 7 for J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts One and Two at London's Palace Theatre, prior to an official opening July 30. The production stars Jamie Parker as Harry Potter with Noma Dumezwen as Hermione and Thornley as Ron.

Here's how the show is billed: “It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions. It is directed by John Tiffany with movement by Steven Hoggett, set designs by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, special effects by Jeremy Chernick, illusions by Jamie Harrison and music supervision by Martin Lowe.
