"The desire for freedom becomes as irresistible as the undertow in one of Ibsen's more symbolic plays," according to the announcement from the award-winning non-Equity company. "Ellida, constantly drawn to the sea, must choose between the man she married and the past life she is unable to forget."
Gems' translation premiered at London's Almeida Theatre in 2003 under the direction of Trevor Nunn and starring Natasha Richardson as Ellida.
