Original cast members from the 2014 Broadway musical If/Then will reunite at 54 Below June 24.
Produced by Brent McCreary and directed by If/Then associate director David Alpert, If/Then: Celebrating the Songs With Members of the Original Broadway Company will be presented at 7 PM and 9:30 PM at the Manhattan venue. Carmel Dean is the musical director.
The concerts will feature Miguel Cervantes, Jenn Colella, Marc de la Cruz, Curtis Holbrook, Stephanie Klemons, Janet Krupin, Tyler McGee, Anthony Rapp, Ryann Redmond, Joe Aaron Reid, James Snyder, and Jason Tam. The actors will be backed by Damien Bassman on drums, Alec Berlin on guitar, and Brian Hamm on bass.
The evening will also feature orchestrations by Michael Starobin and vocal arrangements by AnnMarie Milazzo.
Tony winner Idina Menzel starred as a woman starting her life over in New York City in the original musical from Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics), the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Next to Normal writers. The original cast also included Tony winner LaChanze (The Color Purple, Once On This Island), Rapp (Rent), Snyder (Cry-Baby), Jerry Dixon (tick, tick…Boom!, Once On This Island), Colella (Chaplin, High Fidelity), Tam (A Chorus Line, Lysistrata Jones), Tamika Lawrence (Matilda), Jackie Burns (Wicked), and more.
The musical follows two storylines in the life of Elizabeth, a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life. When her plans collide with the whims of fate, Elizabeth’s life splits into two parallel paths. If/Then follows both stories simultaneously.
If/Then arrived on Broadway March 5, 2014, and officially opened March 30, directed by Michael Greif. Read the original reviews here. The production was subsequently nominated for two 2014 Tony Awards. Upon closing March 22, 2015, the pop-driven musical played 29 previews and 401 performances.
