Broadway legend Chita Rivera, who starred in the original production of Chicago, will make a special concert appearance at Steppenwolf Theatre in the Windy City December 11, accompanied by Sirius/XM radio host and Playbill columnist Seth Rudetsky as host and accompanist.
The 6:30 PM concert of song, conversation, and backstage stories is being presented as part of Steppenwolf’s Lookout Series. Rivera is promising to sing some of the biggest hits from her musical theatre repertoire.
The two-time Tony Award winner originated the roles of Anita in West Side Story, Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie, Velma in Chicago, Anna in The Rink (Tony Award), and the title character in Kiss of the Spider Woman (Tony Award), among many others.
Rivera is performing the Steppenwolf concert on a break from her international tour with Tommy Tune.
