The original Off-Broadway cast of Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will reunite for a special benefit reading of the play, the headline event of Lincoln Center Theater's 2024 gala. The reading will be held May 7 at LCT's Vivian Beaumont Theater with a cocktail party following at Spike's Lounge in David Geffen Hall. Higher-priced ticket levels will include a seated dinner with the cast at David Geffen Hall.
Sigourney Weaver, David Hyde Pierce, Kristine Nielsen, Shalita Grant, and Genevieve Angelson will all reprise their performances from the Tony-winning play's Off-Broadway and Broadway bows, with David Hull stepping in for Billy Magnussen. Bartlett Sher will direct, carrying the baton from late original director Nicholas Martin.
The comedy, a riff on the plays and characters of Chekhov, opened at LCT’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater November 12, 2012, and subsequently transferred to Broadway's Golden March 14, 2013, going on to win both the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Play.
Show-only tickets are available now at LCT.org. A limited number of $35 show-only tickets will be sold via a digital ticket lottery, which will begin accepting entries April 30, also at LCT.org.
