The world premiere of Mike Bartlett’s Unicorn begins performances February 4 at the West End's Garrick Theatre prior to an official opening February 13.
Directed by James Macdonald, the limited engagement is currently
scheduled through April 26. The cast features Nicola Walker as
Polly, Stephen Mangan as Nick, and Erin Doherty as Kate.
The new play follows happily married Polly and Nick, who seem to have it all with two children and successful careers. Yet, something is missing, and they are awaiting a much-needed sparkle.
The production also has designs by Miriam Buether, lighting design by Natasha Chivers, and sound design by Paul Groothuis.
Unicorn is produced by Kate Horton Productions and Nica Burns, Norel Productions and Tilted, in association with Rupert Gavin and Mallory Factor.
Playwright Bartlett said in an earlier statement, “Kate Horton has championed Unicorn from the moment she read it, and I’m thrilled it will be the first play her new company produces. I’m so happy to get the chance to get to work with James Macdonald and Miriam Buether again, and with the incredible Nicola Walker, Stephen Mangan, and Erin Doherty—all superb actors I’ve been a fan of for a long time.”
Unicorn sees Macdonald, Bartlett, and Horton reuniting following their collaboration on the original production of Cock at the Royal Court in 2009.
