St. Paul’s Ordway Theatre has announced its 2019-2020 season, which will launch with the hit Lieber and Stoller revue Smokey Joe’s Café, running September 10–22. Tony Award nominee Joshua Bergasse, who directed and choreographed the recent Off-Broadway revival, will repeat his work.
Mike Birbiglia’s recent Broadway monologue play The New One will follow October 17–19. The Ordway will also produce an all-new production of the Zina Goldrich–Marcy Heisler musical Ever After, running December 3–29. The musical based on the 1998 Drew Barrymore film was recently seen at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre, starring Sierra Boggess.
Also on the season slate are the national tours of the Tony-winning revival of Once On This Island, running February 4–9, 2020; and The Color Purple, running March 31–April 5).
The season will conclude with an Ordway original production of the Tim Minchin musical Groundhog Day, running July 21–August 9.
