Mazel Tov to brash, sexually provocative singer/comedienne Sandra Bernhard. Not only is she taking her hit Off-Broadway, one-woman show, I'm Still Here...Damn It!, to Broadway in October, she's just given birth to a baby girl. Born on the 4th of July, Cicely Yasin Bernhard is the first child of the 42-year-old actress-comedienne, according to an Associated Press report (July 8).

As of July 8, preview and opening night dates have not yet been set for I'm Still Here, though a production spokesperson told Playbill On-Line the show would both start previews and open during the month of October, after Jerry Herman's show ends at the Booth Theatre.

I'm Still Here, which Bernhard calls, "a funky, juicy, raw taste of life in the 90's," opened at NYC's Westbeth Theatre Center Nov. 11 (originally titled Standing on My Own) and extended twice, closing Feb. 14. The solo has since been produced in Boston and San Francisco, where it was taped for HBO. The cable network premieres the piece this Friday, July 10. The production includes her commentary on the hip and famous, fashion, rock and religion, punctuated by songs, some classic, some original.

Bernhard will be joined onstage by musical director Mitch Kaplan. According to the Publicity Office, Bernhard promises that the Broadway transfer will include 30 to 40 percent new material, both from the Off Broadway production and from the TV special.

Ticket information for the show is promised shortly, according to a production spokesperson. David Mamet's The Old Neighborhood closed at the Booth in April. *

"Without you I'm nothing!" actress-comedienne Bernhard would announce when she first came on the scene as an entertainer and provocatrix, pushing the envelope of gender issues.

With guest roles on TV's "Roseanne" (as Nancy) and national tours of her stand-up acts, Bernhard never vanished from public consciousness. Her 1988 Off-Broadway Without You I'm Nothing was a hit at the Orpheum Theatre. That production was made into a film, and the CD version got a Grammy nomination as Best Comedy Record. Other Bernhard films have included King of Comedy, Hudson Hawk, Track 29, Lover Girl and the upcoming Wrongfully Accused. She's written three books: "Confessions of a Pretty Lady," "Love, Love and Love," and the forthcoming "May I Kiss You on the Lips, Miss Sandra."

I'm Still Here...Damn It! will be produced by Delsener/Slater Enterprises, Contemporary Productions and Arielle Tepper. Technical credits have not yet been announced.
