The play follows a single mother raising an ill child, and the female support system that surrounds her. The work premiered at Yale Repertory Theatre in 2017, coming to Off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop later the same year. Both of those earlier runs were also directed by Kauffman, and Wehle and Pourfar are reprising their performances from the Off-Broadway bow as well.

The Broadway bow earned four 2024 Tony Award nominations, including nods for Best Play, Best Direction of a Play (Kauffman), and Best Leading Actress in a Play (McAdams).
