Earlier this week, the NY Post set the theatre community abuzz with news of the possibility of the musical's taping for broadcast only four months after opening on Broadway, an announcement Legally Blonde producers said was premature.

A current free-ticket "casting call" has now been posted by Classic Entertainment Group searching for fans of the musical interested in attending the Sept. 18 filming. The free performance has only two stipulations: attendees must be between the ages of 15-25 (generally, the MTV and Legally Blonde demographic) and be dressed in a pink shirt for the event (Omigod you "guys," this means you, too).

Classic Entertainment Group states the response to the Craigslist ad has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic since it was posted the morning of Sept. 7.

Legally Blonde will be filmed a total of three times — once in its entirety, another without an audience, and finally the Sept. 18 filming, which will take on a more interactive feel with the entire orchestra section full of pink-clad fans. All of the footage will be combined for the MTV broadcast, which is scheduled to take place either late in September or early October, according to CEG, Inc representatives.

Theatregoers who qualify for the age stipulations must also be able to pick up the complimentary tickets in midtown Manhattan on Sept. 16 or 17. Once the available tickets have been issued, an overflow list will begin should there be last-minute cancellations or no-shows. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each name entered will receive two tickets for the filming. Interested parties should e-mail the following information to [email protected]:

•Full name and ages of both ticket holders.
•Contact phone number.
•Confirmation that the theatregoer will be able to pick up the tickets on either Sept. 16 or 17 in midtown Manhattan.

Those who receive free tickets for the Sept. 18 filming of Legally Blonde will be contacted with confirmation and instructions on where they will be able to pick up their tickets. Complimentary group tickets are also being accommodated: e-mail [email protected] or call (212) 367-7434 for group details. Requests for tickets will not be accommodated over the phone.
