Written and directed by Shanley, the play is billed as an "explosive portrait of a young man on the verge of salvation or destruction." The story follows a teenage boy from the Bronx suddenly thrown into the world of a private school in New Hampshire. Violent, gifted, lonely and alienated, his teachers struggle with the question of whether he is a genius or a train wreck. Casting, creative team and more information will be announced shortly. Performances are set to begin Jan. 19, 2016 with an official opening night slated for Feb. 9 at MTC at New York City Center – Stage I.
Shanley is also an Academy Award winner for penning the screenplay to Moonstruck, the 1987 film starring Cher and was nominated for an Oscar again in 2009 for the adapted screenplay to his stage work, "Doubt," a film version starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
