While in London, she won three prizes for composition, and performed with the major London orchestras. She performed one of her own works, the Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat minor, with the London Philharmonic.
She returned to Australia in 1935 to promote and teach music, and continued to perform: with most of the major Australian orchestras: and write music and poetry.
In 1982 she was awarded the Order of the British Empire, and in 1991, was made an Officer of the Order of Australia. In 2004, she was given the APRA-Australian Music Centre Distinguished Service to Australian Music Award.
