The Off-Broadway engagement of Mike Birbiglia's Thank God for Jokes officially opened Feb. 11 at The Lynn Redgrave Theater. To celebrate the engagement, the Brooklyn native appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to chat about the solo comedy and his colorful past.
The comedian recalled a story from an earlier show, several years ago, when he accused members of the audience of being prostitutes. "Maybe you should leave with your hookers," he told the two couples who had been heckling during his performance. "There are so many reasons why this was a bad idea," he continued. Birbiglia goes on to explain how the situation escalated with threats being thrown from the "mobster-looking" audience members.
