News Michael Rupert to Release Single "Racing to the Moon" Aug. 18 Tony Award winner Michael Rupert, currently on Broadway in Legally Blonde, will release a limited edition single from his forthcoming album "Racing to the Moon" Aug. 18.

Only 100 copies of the single, each autographed and numbered, have been created. The single recording offers three different takes of the title track ("Racing to the Moon"), including one by Rupert, an original demo performed by Jersey Boys' Sebastian Arcelus and an instrumental version by guitarist David Timmons.

The three-track single will also offer fans a glimpse of the new musical Streets of America, for which Rupert has penned the score. Rupert has collaborated on the book and lyrics of the new musical with Matthew Riopelle.

The first 25 copies of "Racing to the Moon" sold will also include a bonus recording entitled "Revolution," featuring three selections from Streets of America. A portion of the proceeds from "Racing to the Moon" will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

A private reading of Streets of America, including Rupert, Arcelus, Bryce Hryness (Hair), Shannon Denney and Rachel Stevens, will take place Aug. 18.

Rupert currently stars as Professor Callahan in the Broadway production of Legally Blonde. A Tony and Drama Desk Award winner for the 1986 revival of Sweet Charity, Rupert has appeared on Broadway in The Happy Time, Pippin and City of Angels. He originated the role of Marvin in William Finn's March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland (later combined on Broadway in Falsettos), and has appeared Off-Broadway in Elegies: A Song Cycle and Putting It Together.
