Second City Detroit alums Nancy Hayden and Joshua Funk revive their popular garage-band comedy, Garage, Feb. 4-28, 1999, at Planet Ant, the tiny alternative performance space in Hamtramck [sic], MI.
Garage, a multimedia experience about a 1970s neighborhood band, features live performance by Park, a group consisting of Josh Funk, Chad Krueger, Doug Walsh and Chuck Bartels. Second City Detroit cast members appear in videotaped segments. Funk and Hayden are co-authors and co stars.
After it opened in February 1998, the show became the biggest seller at "The Ant," as it's called, a former coffeehouse in Hamtramck, a Polish enclave near Detroit. There are plans to make the story into an independent feature in the summer of 1999.
Music is composed by Krueger, music director for Second City Detroit. Lyrics are by Walsh. Ant artistic director Ryan Carlson directs.
